In addition to the infection control procedures we have had in place in our office for years, per the CDC and federal and state dental agencies, we are implementing the following in light of the COVID-19 situation:

  1. During this time, we will ask that if someone brought you to the office that they wait in the car.  We will get their cell number and can call them if needed.  We want to keep the reception area available for patients being seen at that time.
  2. If you do not have a mask on when you arrive we will provide one for you to use while in the reception area and billing area.
  3. We will ask you to use the hand sanitizer when you come into the office.  We will have hand sanitizer in other areas of the office for you to use as needed.
  4. Our reception area will no longer offer magazines, children's toys and so on since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect.
  5. Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients.  To keep the social distancing in place you may be offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
  6. We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.  We have rearranged our reception area to accommodate this protocol.

Please know that we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and healthy.  Because this is new territory for everyone, the above may be changed as necessary to make sure we stay current with any new recommendations for infection control by the CDC and other agencies.  If you have any questions regarding our protocol as above, give our office a call at (503) 257-3033.  We look forward to seeing you soon.

What is periodontal disease? The word periodontal means “around the tooth”.  Periodontal disease attacks the gums and the bone that support the teeth.  Plaque is a sticky film of food debris, bacteria, and saliva.  If plaque is not removed, it turns into calculus (tartar).  When plaque and calculus are not removed, they begin to destroy the gums and bone.  Periodontal disease is characterized by red, swollen, and bleeding gums. Four out of five people have periodontal disease and don’t know it!  Most people are not aware of it because the...

Dental Restorations in Portland, OR It’s great news that the incidence of tooth decay has significantly diminished over the years due to the use of fluorides and an increase in patient awareness.  However, teeth are still susceptible to decay, infection, and breakage and sometimes need to be restored back to health.  Through improved techniques and modern technology, we are now able to offer more options for restoring a tooth back to its normal shape, appearance and function. Should your teeth ever require a restorative treatment, you can rest...

Pediatric Family Dentistry in Southeast Portland, OR Pediatric dentistry (formerly Pedodontics/Paedodontics) primarily focuses on children from birth through adolescence.  The American Dental Association (ADA), recognizes pediatric dentistry as a specialty and therefore requires dentists to undertake two or three years of additional training after completing a general dentistry degree.  At the end of this training, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry issues a unique diploma (Diplomate ABPD).  Some pediatric dentists (pedodontists) opt to...
